Matthew 7:1-6
Do Not Judge
- v6. “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."
Hmm I don't understand this verse fully.
I think "do not give what is holy to dogs" refers to not giving super holy stuff to worldly people, lest they despise what you give them and you kenna slapped.
But "cast your pearls before swine"? Joyce Meyer interprets pearls as love and swine as evil spirits, and she says you open a door for them to "tear you in pieces" when you judge other people.
She then talks about an incident where she judged and criticised a fellow Christian friend and in the end, she also kenna the same problem as her. Doesn't sit right with me. I searched around and could not find other interpretations about pearls and swine. Hmm....
However, I do tend to agree that swine refers to evil spirits (because Jesus did cast them into swine later on). But pearls? And what can evil spirits do to you when you have the blood of Jesus on you??
