Matthew 6:19-24

Matthew 6:19-21 (Amplified)
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

- v20. "But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal;"

Moth ----> Wicked people (Isaiah 50:9, 51:8)
Worm ----> One of its figurative definitions is disease
Rust ----> The act of corrosion (the idea of consumption)
Thieves ----> This one has to be the devil/s. (notice the plurality)

- v21. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:22-23 (Amplified)
The Lamp of the Body

- v23. "But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness!"

Matthew 6:24 (Amplified)
You Cannot Serve God and Riches

- v24. "No one can serve two masters; ... You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in)."

----------------------
I was thinking why Jesus talks about gathering treasures, then suddenly jumps to talking about having light in your body, then He comes back to money again.

Could it be, that the key to what affects your decision to serve God (and not what you trust in), lies in the fact that there is an absence of light in your conscience?
