3 John

3 John

- AMP v7 For these [traveling missionaries] have gone out for the Name's sake (for His sake) and are accepting nothing from the Gentiles (the heathen, the non-Israelites).

- AMP v8 So we ourselves ought to support such people [to welcome and provide for them], in order that we may be fellow workers in the Truth (the whole Gospel) and cooperate with its teachers.

- MSG v7-8 They set out under the banner of the Name, and get no help from unbelievers. So they deserve any support we can give them. In providing meals and a bed, we become their companions in spreading the Truth.

2 John

2 John

- MSG v8-9 And be very careful around them so you don't lose out on what we've worked so diligently in together; I want you to get every reward you have coming to you. Anyone who gets so progressive in his thinking that he walks out on the teaching of Christ, walks out on God. But whoever stays with the teaching, stays faithful to both the Father and the Son.

- AMP v8 Look to yourselves (take care) that you may not lose (throw away or destroy) all that we and you have labored for, but that you may [persevere until you] win and receive back a perfect reward [in full].

- AMP v9 Anyone who runs on ahead [of God] and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ [who is not content with what He taught] does not have God; but he who continues to live in the doctrine (teaching) of Christ [does have God], he has both the Father and the Son.

1 John 5

1 John 5 (Amplified)

- v4 For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.

- v5 Who is it that is victorious over [that conquers] the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on that fact]?

1 John 4

1 John 4

- MSG v7 My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can't know him if you don't love.

- AMP v7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him].

1 John 3

1 John 3

- AMP v10 By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).

- MSG v18-20 My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality. It's also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.

- MSG v21-24 And friends, once that's taken care of and we're no longer accusing or condemning ourselves, we're bold and free before God! We're able to stretch our hands out and receive what we asked for because we're doing what he said, doing what pleases him. Again, this is God's command: to believe in his personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told us to love each other, in line with the original command. As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us.

1 John 2

1 John 2

- MSG v4-6 If someone claims, "I know him well!" but doesn't keep his commandments, he's obviously a liar. His life doesn't match his words. But the one who keeps God's word is the person in whom we see God's mature love. This is the only way to be sure we're in God. Anyone who claims to be intimate with God ought to live the same kind of life Jesus lived.

- AMP v15 Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.

- AMP v16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]--these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].

- AMP v27 But as for you, the anointing (the sacred appointment, the unction) which you received from Him abides [permanently] in you; [so] then you have no need that anyone should instruct you. But just as His anointing teaches you concerning everything and is true and is no falsehood, so you must abide in (live in, never depart from) Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him], just as [His anointing] has taught you [to do].

1 John 1

1 John 1 (The Message)

- v6-7 If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we're obviously lying through our teeth—we're not living what we claim. But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God's Son, purges all our sin.

John 21

John 21:20-25
The Beloved Disciple and His Book

- v20
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”

- v21
Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?”

- v22 Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.

This is the last line that Jesus said in the book of John and of the gospels. Don't compare yourself with others in ministry. Joyce Meyer puts it simply as Jesus saying "Mind your own business" politely. This is Jesus' last piece of advice.
---------------------------------------

- v25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.

John 17-20

John 20:19-23
The Apostles Commissioned

- v21-23 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.

John 16

John 16

- v8-11 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

- v22-24 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

- v32-33 ... And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 15

John 15

- v7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

- v11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

- v
15-16 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

- v19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own.

John 14

John 14 (The Message)

-v1-4 "Don't let this throw you. You trust God, don't you? Trust me... And if I'm on my way to get your room ready, I'll come back and get you so you can live where I live. And you already know the road I'm taking."

- v11-14 "... From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I'll do it... I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I'll do.

- v15-18 "... I will talk to the Father, and he'll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. I will not leave you orphaned. I'm coming back."

- v21"... And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself plain to him."

- v26-27 The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I'm leaving you well and whole. That's my parting gift to you. Peace. I don't leave you the way you're used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don't be upset. Don't be distraught.

- v28 "You've heard me tell you, 'I'm going away, and I'm coming back.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I'm on my way to the Father because the Father is the goal and purpose of my life.

John 13

John 13:1-17 (The Message)
Washing His Disciples' Feet

-v8 ... Jesus said, "If I don't wash you, you can't be part of what I'm doing."

John 12

John 12:36-50 (The Message)
Their Eyes Are Blinded

- v42-43On the other hand, a considerable number from the ranks of the leaders did believe. But because of the Pharisees, they didn't come out in the open with it. They were afraid of getting kicked out of the meeting place. When push came to shove they cared more for human approval than for God's glory.

John 11

John 11:1-44

- v14-15 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him.”

- v33 Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

- v35 Jesus wept.

- v38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

- v40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”

- v42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.”

John 10

John 10:22-30
The Shepherd Knows His Sheep

- v27-29 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

John 9

John 9:13-34
The Pharisees Excommunicate the Healed Man

- v27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”

- v30 The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes!"

Haha I love the sarcasm! Hahaha

John 9:35-41
True Vision and True Blindness

- v35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

Notice that earlier in the chapter, in v22-23, it says:
- v22-23 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue. Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”

His parents chose to shift the responsibility to their son because they were afraid of declaring that Jesus was the Messiah. Their son stood up to the Pharisees and got excommunicated. And what happened to him? Jesus personally came to find him! WOAH!!!

John 8

John 8:12-59

It whole section of scripture is amazing. You see Jesus debating with the Pharisees and unbelievers. With so many ppl coming against Him alone to question his integrity, line-after-line, you can see how steadfast He is in His identity as the Messiah. No one can shake Him from that belief. It is mind-blowing!

John 7

John 7:10-24
The Heavenly Scholar

- v16-18 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him."

John 6

John 6:60-71 (The Message)
Too Tough to Swallow

- v64-65 ... (Jesus knew from the start that some weren't going to risk themselves with him. He knew also who would betray him.) He went on to say, "This is why I told you earlier that no one is capable of coming to me on his own. You get to me only as a gift from the Father."
