I was reading the book of Joshua and decided to check an online commentary. Don't know why I didn't see it before but Joshua in the old testament is Jesus in the new testament. Both names means the Lord saves, Joshua is the Hebrew form and Jesus is the Greek form. Joshua was the one who brought the Israelites into the land of promised and rest because Moses was unable to. Moses represents the Law and the Promised Land is heaven. We are unable to enter heaven by obeying the Law, we need Jesus.
