Acts 6

...So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.
Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." ...

....even in the distribution of food you need to be full of the Spirit and wisdom..

..So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

Romans 11

Romans 11

- v11-12 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!

Romans 10

Romans 10

- v11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

- v13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

-
AMP v17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

- v19 “ I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation,
I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.”

Acts 5 (ESV)

14...And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, 15 so that they even carried out the sick into the streets and laid them on cots and mats, that as Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on some of them. 16The people also gathered from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

...The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. 31God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

...Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. 42And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

Acts 4

9If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed,
10then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus."

32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.
33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.
34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales
35and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

Romans 8

Romans 8

- v30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

- v33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? ...

- v34 Who is he who condemns? ...

- v35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? ...

- v37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Deuteronomy 1:30-32 (NIV)

"30 The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31 and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place."

He will carry us through this period of deadlines and tests.

Acts 3

(ESV)
Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!"

...when Peter saw it he addressed the people: "Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?
you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.

Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, 20that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. 22Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. 23And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.'

You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.' 26 God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness."

Romans 8

Romans 8

- v24-25 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

- v31-32 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

What you hope for will be freely given to you.

Acts 2

32This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
37Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
38And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself."

42And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
43And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.
44And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
45And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
46And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Romans 8

I've been stuck on Romans 8 for a number of days now. There is just SO MUCH in it, and I wanna take a few days to chew on it.

Just before the very first time I read it last Thursday, I had a barrage of condemning thoughts hitting me, for no apparent reason, at 6.45am, thoughts about my unworthiness to serve in Ministry, thoughts about my crumbled spiritual walls, thoughts about ppl not liking me.

And then I looked up at my screen and saw it -

Romans 8:1
- T
here is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus

Instantly, all the thoughts lifted. And then I asked myself, do those thoughts have any grounds at all? Even if I don't condemn myself, I'm not perfect either. And how do I explain those things that have already happened in the past?

Romans 8:28
- And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

If you really, really believe that ALL things work out for good, then whatever has happened, is happening or will happen MUST be good! It's so easy to look at things negatively. What if we do things radically, and look at things super positively for a change, because we have the grounds of Romans 8:28?

Acts 1

Acts 1:8
"...you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 1:22
"...one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection..."

give thanks

recently, ive been in this spurt of looking at the natural and feeling very demoralised by what i see. the more i focused on things i saw, the more terrible i thought it was. somewhere during my epistemology and metaphysics class, God told me 2 things- "selene, learn to give thanks for the little things you see."

1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night,
3 On an instrument of ten strings,
On the lute,
And on the harp,
With harmonious sound.
4 For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
psalm 92:1-4

secondly, you reign in life by having two things
RECEIVE the abundance of grace and GIFT of righteousness. romans 5:17
reign means to be king, to exercise kingly power and the highest influence.
if how you reign in life does not depend on what you do, then what you dont do will not negate your power to reign in life.

open our spiritual eyes and see that God is for us. if we only look at what is in the natural, we are just like any other person in the world. but if we look at how good our Abba is, that is we know that we are the children of the Most High, deserving nothing less that what we see in the supernatural.

Romans 6

Romans 6:15-23 (The Message)
What is True Freedom?

- v20-21 As long as you did what you felt like doing, ignoring God, you didn't have to bother with right thinking or right living, or right anything for that matter. But do you call that a free life? What did you get out of it? Nothing you're proud of now. Where did it get you? A dead end.

minding mind conversations

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers
3 John 1:2

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You,Because he trusts in You
Isaiah 26:3

Romans 5

Romans 5:1-5
Faith Triumphs in Trouble

- NKJV v3-5 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Developing Patience

- MSG v3-5 There's more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we're hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

Romans 4

Romans 4 (The Message)
Trusting God

- v3 ...What we read in Scripture is, "Abraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own."

- v4-5 If you're a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don't call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it's something only God can do, and you trust him to do it—you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked—well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift.

If there's anything you need to watch, you need to watch this.

Romans 3

Romans 3 (The Message)

- v28 What we've learned is this: God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does. We've finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.

proverbs 22:17-21

Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise,
And apply your heart to my knowledge;
For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you (believe);
Let them all be fixed upon your lips (confess),
So that your trust may be in the LORD
;
I have instructed you today, even you.
Have I not written to you excellent things
Of counsels and knowledge,
That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth,
That you may answer words of truth
To those who send to you?

just when i told Him i really cannot, Daddy showed me this verse. :) let believing and confessing the Truth be so real in my life.

Romans 2

Romans 2 (The Message)

- v11 ... God pays no attention to what others say (or what you think) about you. He makes up his own mind.

- v29 ... And recognition comes from God, not legalistic critics.

Romans 1

Romans 1:16-17
The Just Live by Faith

- v16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

- AMP v16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God's power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek,

- MSG v17 God's way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: "The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives."

1 Thessalonians 5

1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 (The Message)
The Way He Wants You To Live

- v12-13 And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love!

13-15 Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.

1 Thessalonians 3-4

1 Thessalonians 4:9-12
A Brotherly and Orderly Life

- v10-12 "... But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing."

----------------------------------
This is not from the Message. This is from New King James. "Mind your own business" is really written here. And I see this from 2 perspectives - not just getting involved in other ppl's affairs, but also getting other ppl involved in your own affairs.

And this rings true to me, not that I don't care about others, or that I'm anti-social, but rather, we already have the One Who is with us always, and some journeys are meant to be walked alone with Him, and "you will lack nothing".

Also, getting other ppl involved at times can lead to disappointment when you don't get the kind of response/help that you are looking for - ppl can fail you too (John 2:23-25).

1 Thessalonians 2

1 Thessalonians 2 (Amplified)

- v13 And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it].

The heavens parted....

Just wanna share this fantastic pic which Anil sent to us all in RSM... enjoy!

Think the pic looks very digitalised but somehow the message which companies it (which Anil shared) is pretty cool...

The heaven's parted, and Daddy God says:" This is the beloved son whom I'm well pleased".

... "This is the beloved daughter, (your name), whom I'm well-pleased".
... "This is the beloved son, (your name), whom I'm well-pleased".

the joy of the LORD

"...This day is sacred to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep...
...Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength...
...Be still, for this is a sacred day. Do not grieve....
...Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them..."
- Neh 8:9-12
"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. "
-Ps 118:24
"...I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."
- 2 Cor 6:2

Understand this and rejoice!

1 Thessalonians 1

1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 (The Message)
Convictions of Steel

- v5-6 You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you, and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit!—taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with the trouble.

Colossians 4

Colossians 4:2-6
Christian Graces

- AMP v5 Behave yourselves wisely [living prudently and with discretion] in your relations with those of the outside world (the non-Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity.

v6 Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].

- MSG v5-6Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don't miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.

Psalms 103:2-5

This is a verse which Minhuey shared with me during my stay at the hospital and it speaks to me... exactly!

Psalms 103:2-5
Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

As I read this verse over and over again to look into the indepth meaning of it.. i heard Daddy God telling me this... why not put Jesus into the verse...

Praise the LORD, O my soul,

and forget not all his benefits given by Jesus-
Jesus, who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
Jesus, who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
Jesus, who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

When I read and saw this, I am so amazed! That night's sleep in my ward was the best and the sweetest! I can just feel that Jesus is sitting beside me, watching over me as I sleep... well tugged in bed.
